About Fjord Barber Academy
We provide professional barber training in Oslo, Norway — focused on hands-on technique, safety, and a clear pathway into Greater Oslo barbershops.
Founding story
Fjord Barber Academy was founded in 2024 to raise the standard of practical barber training in Oslo. The local scene needed a studio where technique is demonstrated on real heads, tempo is measured with a stopwatch, and hygiene aligns with Norwegian best practices. From the start, we designed evening and weekend cohorts so working stylists across Greater Oslo could reskill without pausing their jobs.
Our studio on Torggata 13 hosts small groups, live-model practice, and assessment days that reflect true shop conditions. The goal is simple: sharpen fundamentals, systemise fades and tapers, and build a confident consultation workflow that fits Oslo clientele.
Craft first
We teach body position, section control, scissor-over-comb, clipper-over-comb, and finish discipline so hair holds shape beyond the first wash. Every drill is tied to Oslo barbershop services and timing targets.
Safety & hygiene
Sanitation cycles, blade alignment, and workstation protocols reflect Norwegian expectations. We model real-world hygiene flows used across studios in Sentrum and greater Oslo.
Learning that sticks
Short demos, spaced repetition, mannequin-to-model progression, and CPD hours documented. You leave with a repeatable process and a portfolio that fits Oslo trial shifts.
Our studio in the heart of Oslo
Located at Torggata 13, Sentrum, our classroom mirrors a working barbershop: adjustable chairs, clear sightlines, and a tool wall for clippers, guards, blades, and combs. We run live-model nights with safety briefings and consent steps, and we time each service to match Oslo’s weekend pace.
- Consultation frameworks adapted for Greater Oslo walk-ins and bookings.
- Fade systems from debulking to detailing with consistent guard progression.
- Beard mapping, line-up symmetry, hot towel prep, and straight-razor care.
Instructors and invited experts
Training is delivered by a core instructor team with invited specialists for advanced topics. All mentions are anonymised — you will work with a “lead instructor”, an “expert in this topic”, or a “guest specialist” based on the module. Each brings years of practical experience in Oslo barbershops and focuses on clear micro-corrections you can act on during live practice.
