Terms of Service
Last Updated: March 12, 2026
1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the website and training services offered by Fjord Barber Academy AS (“Fjord Barber Academy”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By visiting our website or enrolling in any course, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. You must be at least 16 years old to use the website or participate in our training. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian should review these Terms with you. If you do not agree, do not use the site or register for any course.
2. About Fjord Barber Academy and Service Description
Fjord Barber Academy AS provides professional, practice‑led barber training and workshops in Oslo, Norway. Our services include foundational barbering, fade and taper techniques, beard design and shaving, hygiene and tool care, portfolio development, and assessments that may lead to a certificate indicating documented CPD hours. We may update, improve, or discontinue parts of our services, schedules, or course outlines at any time to reflect pedagogy, safety standards, or facility needs in Oslo and the wider Norwegian market.
3. Educational and Professional Disclaimers
Our courses are educational and professional‑development in nature. They do not constitute formal vocational licensing or an academic degree. Skills acquisition depends on individual practice, attendance, and prior experience; we do not guarantee specific employment outcomes, wage levels, or client volume in Oslo or elsewhere. Practical work on mannequins and live models is always preceded by hygiene and consent briefings. Participants must follow safety instructions at all times and accept responsibility for their technique and conduct during training.
4. Booking, Enrolment, and Attendance
To book, you may contact us through the on‑site form or by email. Enrolment is confirmed only when we send a written confirmation. We may request a deposit to secure your place, provide a kit list, and share attendance requirements. We reserve the right to reschedule sessions due to instructor illness, facility issues on Torggata 13, public transport disruptions in Oslo, or other reasonable causes. If rescheduling occurs, we will offer a comparable alternative date or a credit toward a later cohort.
5. Fees, Currency, and Refunds
Fees are communicated in Norwegian Krone (NOK) and are due in accordance with the invoice or enrolment confirmation. Unless stated otherwise, prices include applicable Norwegian VAT where required. Refund eligibility depends on the notice period and course type. Non‑attendance without notice is not refundable. If Fjord Barber Academy cancels a course in full, you may choose a full refund or a rebooking credit. Any bank charges or currency conversion costs are borne by the participant. Nothing in this clause limits your statutory rights under Norwegian consumer law.
6. Certificates, Assessments, and CPD Hours
Certificates are issued upon successful completion of the assessment rubric and required attendance. CPD hours reflect the guided instruction time and documented activities during the cohort. We may withhold certificates if attendance or safety standards were not met. Certificates indicate completion of Fjord Barber Academy’s curriculum; they are not a state licence and do not guarantee job placement in Oslo or elsewhere.
7. Acceptable Use of the Website
You agree not to: (a) copy, scrape, or crawl our site at a rate that degrades service or violates robots directives; (b) attempt to bypass security controls or access non‑public areas; (c) upload malware, conduct phishing, or engage in fraudulent activity; (d) impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation; (e) use automated systems to submit forms, except standard accessibility tools; or (f) use the services in breach of applicable Norwegian or EEA laws, export restrictions, or sanctions regimes.
8. Intellectual Property
The website, course materials, lesson plans, videos, images, text, logos, and graphics are owned by Fjord Barber Academy AS or our licensors, and are protected by copyright and trademark laws. We grant you a limited, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable licence to access the website and use course materials for your personal education. You must not reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works from our content without prior written permission. All rights are reserved.
9. Third‑Party Services and Links
Our website may reference third‑party services or contain links to other sites for convenience (for example, mapping services or content delivery infrastructure). We do not control and are not responsible for third‑party content, policies, or availability. Your use of any third‑party service is subject to its terms and privacy practices. We do not endorse or assume responsibility for any third‑party statements or claims.
10. Health, Safety, and Model Policy
Participants must comply with hygiene, sanitation, and safety protocols used in Norwegian barber environments. This includes tool disinfection cycles, blade handling, workstation housekeeping, and pre‑service assessments. Model participation requires informed consent and adherence to instructor directions. We may remove any participant from a session who does not follow safety instructions, behaves aggressively, or risks injury to themselves or others. Removal for safety reasons may forfeit fees for the affected session(s).
11. Privacy and Data Protection
We process personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. We collect the minimum information needed to handle enquiries, bookings, and training delivery. Where consent is required (for example, analytics or marketing cookies), we will first obtain your permission. You can manage preferences using the on‑site controls provided in the footer. We operate in Norway and comply with applicable Norwegian and EEA data protection rules.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
The website and services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by Norwegian law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, and non‑infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error‑free, or that course outcomes will meet particular employment objectives. You are responsible for ensuring that any course you select meets your needs and expectations.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Norwegian law, Fjord Barber Academy AS and its officers, employees, and invited instructors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business interruption, arising from or related to your use of the site or services. Our aggregate liability for direct damages is capped at the greater of: (a) the total fees you paid to us for services giving rise to the claim during the twelve (12) months preceding the event; or (b) NOK 1,000. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under Norwegian law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Fjord Barber Academy AS from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your misuse of the website or training environment; (b) your breach of these Terms; or (c) any content or information you submit to us that infringes a third party’s rights or violates applicable law.
15. Force Majeure
We will not be liable for any delay or failure to perform due to events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, fire, flood, epidemic or pandemic, labour disputes, acts of government, war, terrorism, civil unrest, widespread cyberattacks, electricity or internet outages, or failures by hosting and cloud providers. If a force majeure event occurs, we will make reasonable efforts to resume services or provide rescheduling options as conditions allow in Oslo.
16. International Use
Our website is accessible globally, but our services are primarily delivered in Oslo, Norway. We make no representation that content is appropriate or legally available in all jurisdictions. If you access the site from outside Norway, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws. Importantly, EEA consumers retain mandatory protections available under their home‑country consumer legislation where applicable.
17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without regard to conflict‑of‑laws principles. The courts of Oslo, Norway, shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the services, subject to any mandatory rights you may have under EEA consumer laws to bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction.
18. Dispute Resolution
Before filing a claim, you agree to attempt to resolve the dispute informally by emailing us a clear description of your concern and supporting details. We will endeavour to respond within thirty (30) days. If we cannot resolve the matter informally, disputes will be brought in the courts specified above. Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking interim injunctive or other equitable relief to prevent immediate harm.
19. Termination and Suspension
We may suspend or terminate your access to the site or participation in a course if you materially breach these Terms, endanger others, damage property, or otherwise disrupt training. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, acceptable use, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law, and dispute resolution) shall continue to apply.
20. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect, and the invalid provision will be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
21. Entire Agreement
These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Fjord Barber Academy AS regarding the website and services, and supersede prior or contemporaneous understandings on the same subject matter.
22. Assignment
We may assign or transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms, in whole or in part, to an affiliate, successor, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent.
23. No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by an authorised representative of Fjord Barber Academy AS.
24. Modifications to these Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, highlighted on our homepage for at least fourteen (14) days before they take effect. The “Last Updated” date will be revised. Your continued use of the website or services after changes become effective signifies acceptance of the updated Terms.
25. Electronic Communications and Notices
By using the site or contacting us, you consent to receive communications from us electronically (including email). You agree that electronic notices satisfy any legal communication requirements to the extent permitted by law, including under eIDAS and relevant Norwegian legislation on electronic signatures and communications.
